My wife and I (John Lichtenfels) built a new house in a newly established residential development. When it came to installing lawn, I purchased a 1950 Ford 9n Tractor to help me get my lawn planted. As more homes were being built, my new lawn came in beautifully and the new home owners asked me if I could give them a good looking lawn. As winter approached and the need for snow plowing of their driveways, I then added a plow to my tractor and went to work. In 1954, I decided to give my tractor and myself a name - Lichtenfels Landscaping. With the help of my sons, the company has grown and a move to Coon Ridge Road in 1970, I started to grow seedling trees and shrubs, thus the name changed to Lichtenfels Nursery. In 1991 we incorporated to include my family in the business venture, so now we are Lichtenfels Nursery, Inc.
